Lost Books

Please be aware that we are having a number of issues with class reading books being lost or damaged at home. Please can you ensure that you take care of any reading book that comes home with your child and that it is returned to school when it is completed.

If a school reading book is lost or damaged, you will asked to pay £5.00 to cover the costs of the book. This is because we only have a limited amount of funds and cannot afford to replace lost or damaged books.

We thank you for your continued support.

Sir Captain Tom Moore Fundraising

On Wednesday 26th, Thursday 27th and Friday 28th the children took part in the '100 Challenge' in memory of Sir Captain Tom Moore. The children were challenged with walking 100 miles as a year group some children decided to run the event!

It saw children completing at least 15 laps of the playground. The children really enjoyed the event and had a brilliant time fundraising for a local cause.

Thank you to all of you who sponsored the event; as a school we have raised the AMAZING amount of £3705.09.

What a tremendous effort by everyone!

100 for Sir Tom Fundraising Challenge

The children at Tweeddale Primary are going to be taking part in the fundraising challenge which has been set up by The Captain Tom Foundation to celebrate Captain Tom's life, his generosity of spirit, the hope and joy he brought to millions and his sense of fun, by taking part in this fundraising challenge over what would have been his 101st birthday weekend.

At Tweeddale, children are going to be walking 100 miles as a year group. Having measured the playground, 100 miles is the equivalent of 805laps! This is going to be made up from completing laps of the playground. Depending on the number of children in your child’s year group, children will be covering an average of 15 laps of the playground.

Children will be able to walk, skip, jog or run to complete this challenge! Although this will have to still be done in a socially distanced manner, children will be encouraged to have fun and celebrate.

This is a sponsored event to raise money for a chosen cause. Local schools in the area have been working with Sutton Schools Trust and it has been decided to raise money for Epsom and St Helier Trust with three main focus areas:

  1. The Magic Carpet Appeal – to raise money for a resource for the Children’s Ward – a projection toy that can emerge ward children into an imaginary world

  2. Staff Wellbeing committee for massage chairs, music and smart speakers in the staff rest areas.

  3. Medical appeals that the hospital currently have: Bladder Scanner!

We appreciate the difficult times both financially and emotionally currently but would love it if you and others in the local area could sponsor your child either per lap or a total amount for being like Captain Sir Tom and raising money to thank the staff at St. Helier for their tireless  work during the Covid pandemic.  Sponsorship money will need to be brought into school (in a sealed, named) envelope by WEDNESDAY 5TH MAY 2021.

The children will be taking part in the sponsored walk on either Wednesday 28th, Thursday 29th or Friday 30th April - nearer the time the date for each class and year will be announced. On the day your child will be completing their sponsored walk, they will be allowed to bring in something bright and colourful to take on the walk with them (e.g a teddy/ a funny hat/ a tutu) as this is a celebration. On the day of the challenge, you child will come home with a certificate to let you know how many laps they completed.
